Inguinal Hernia, or Groin Hernia-a
Bulge -
On either
or both sides of the groin causing discomfort and sometimes
a “gurgling” sound from either small bowel or colon being
part of the hernia. Requires surgical repair.

Ventral Hernia, any bulge in
the abdominal wall -
Usually
it occurs in the midline, for example, the umbilicus.
Or it can occur underneath an old surgical scar and is
called an incisional hernia. In most cases repair of
the hernia is indicated, usually using a piece of plastic
mesh.
Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy , or Lap/Chole -
By
now is well recognized as the “Gold Standard” for surgical removal
of the gallbladder. This is one of the commonest elective
procedures in General Surgery, along with hernia surgery.
